Insanity!
By: nerfymcgee
Date: 23 Jul 2011
Rating:
First there was "Towards the Skullthrone of Satan" and "Prophecies of Pagan Fire", Later in Enthroned's Discography there was "Xes Haereticum", first few releases featuring a raw black metal style that Sabathan (lead vocals and bass), set apart from the pack with his small stature and high piched vocals... as well as a huge stage presence. The ladder being the beginning of the end for the black metal midget, with a whole new direction for the band; brutal, no bullshit hatred. Somewhere between these two sounds is what i believe to be their best ever release, The Apacolypse Manifesto. This release still features sabathan as the frontman, and is the first release forshadowing a new direction for the band. Herein lies a brutal, thrashy feel that is at this point new to the Belgian outfit, yet still is unmistakably Enthroned. Sabathan's screeching vocals, new percussion styling that forces you to stand up and take notice, enthroned-style melodic guitars with a thrashy feel, and an overall sound that just cannot, and will not... ever be matched. Amazingly deep feel to the breakdowns, yet not at all straying from the sound that makes enthroned one of the best of all times. 5/5! Thank you Ripperchris for the add!
