Catamenia continue to go away from their earlier melodic black metal sound as evidenced here on "Cavalcade". The pace on this album is generally slower than their previous material, but it still contains that Catamenia essence – albeit with clean vocals, which most Catamenia fans would not be used to.
All of the songs on “Cavalcade” generally follow the same song structure, so if you like even one song from this album, you should be able to enjoy all the songs, and vice versa. Each individual song does have its own unique hook, but none of them really deviate from that point to do anything unexpected or outlandish.
“Cavalcade” also contains cover tracks of Megadeth’s “Angry Again” and Sentenced’s “Farewell” (however the Sentenced cover can only be found on the limited edition digipack). The Megadeth cover simply sounds like Catamenia performing a Megadeth track, but the Sentenced cover is performed quite well, a nice tribute to the original Sentenced version.
This is definitely a very enjoyable album by Catamenia, despite the lack of their trademark wolf image on the (still nice) album cover.
