We live in modern times, where everybody and everything in the world is closer to everything and everybody. now iam curious: does it matter for you, where a band come from? do u prefer different countries? do u only listen to bands from special countries? Or are you not giving a flying fuck about the band´s home country?
Some ppl for example dun like black metal from germany. I say: I dun care about the country. a band must be good! that´s all. there are good and bad bands everywhere |

I don't really care about it, the only thing I care about is: do they sound good? Are they original or are they very good in copying a sound?
most of the time those questions lead me to Death Metal, only a few (the very good ones for me ) Black Metal bands are allowed in my collection _________________ We were, fair queen,

I agree, on top of all the music matters.
When it comes to metal I almost exclusively listen to european stuff, especially from Norway, Sweden and Germany; most of this bands have the "sound" I like and some of them also advocate for their lyrics. _________________ o

Good question.
I'm from from a Yankee/English rock culture. Many ppl here @ Brazil don't know that there are rock made on another countries. Till go to DFM, the only non USA/England band I know was Moonspell, Amon Amarth and Opeth.
Now, DFM opened my eyes and I know that don't matter the country, but just the quality of the music. |

so what do u think, why there arent so many bands from exotic countries like maybe Thailand, Egypt or Argentine? i know for example that there is a big deathmetal scene in thailand. but why arent those bands famous? are they bad? do they have a strange sound? or do the labels just not support those bands? _________________ JOIN ZAGANISM, PM ME FOR INFOS (Headpriest Cherubian)

I guess the main reason for this is the lack of interest the companies have for those bands.
besides of that, most of those bands will have less money (than bands in developed countries) to promote themselves and/or less facilities to record/distribute their demo(s). _________________ We were, fair queen,

Is true, i dont like BM bands from Germany but not coz they are from GER not at all,
is just that allmost all the GER BM bands i heard just dont got that energy and there to raw, just no melody.
i dont care from where a band is as long as they sound good to me thats all that matters, right? _________________ |=*=Razy=*=|

I don't think anyone cares about the origin of a band.. it's the music that counts.. I listen to bands from all over the world, but I must say that I prefer BM so Norway would be my 1st choice, followed by the great pagan/black of Russia, Ukraine and other eastern europeans.. _________________ None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free - Goethe

I agree with zargun on these comercial facts, and the others on the "kick-ass" relevance.
Further, I think that the cultural roots of each country have to be accounted. For example, South America countries have a strong african influence and in spite of rock'n'roll have had african influence too, these are from distinct Africa locations.
So, the "musical signature" of each country is a cultural phenomenon and is hard to change it. This implies that it's not easy to introduce a new rhythm or tendency - it may last some time (by the comercial power) but not forever. It would be necessary a more general cultural change. |
