Since we all have the understanding of the basic Genres or metal are... i wanna know where the "core" comes from.
If you have Death Metal you have Death Core... what in the fuck makes death metal end up having a core?
Please explain. |

The core is just an illusion. There is no real core, since extreme metal always was cast into obscurity. Core ist just the way for the normal people to cope with something they can't understand nor comprehend. _________________ o

Still not a definiative answer tho.
Is it just a toned down mainstream version? |

In 99% of the "core" music, there is a always a melodic breakdown - some repetitive riffs, chanting chorus, etc. The general idea is to "reduce down" real WHATEVER music, to something that can be broken into:
1. part of a song
2. chorus
Thus, an average joe can be sucked into ......core, which in the end results in some shit, being aired on MTV.
There are exceptions really, i could name DevilDriver for example, which is actually pretty decent, but in the end it has nothing to do with the style, from which it emerged from.
I need corrections here, please assist me. No bad mouthing allowed though. _________________ On the stones that we walk, and choose to make our paths,

It's comes from the main word Harcore, which was a genre by itself, and had all the features like breakdowns, higher pitched death-like vocals, and a faster pace than typical death metal.
Deathcore has the same characteristics, but has harsher vocals and overall heavier music, with more use of the double bass.
Metalcore is a middle ground between the two.
After that, the rest of the newer types of core are all extremely shitty, but there are several bands in the death and metalcore genre that are actually pretty good, some people are just too close-minded to look beyond the genre label. _________________ ヽヽ༼༼ຈຈل͜ل͜ຈຈ༽༽ノノ TURN DOWN THAT MUSIC IT'S SHAKING MY HOUSE |

Thnx to the two for getting a definition ready. It´s indeed hard to explain. I still stand my ground to claim that when u listen Pantera´s "Far beyond driven" you will get the first ground defining act to mix those styles.
To get all the technical details isn´t easy but when u hear it you´ll recognize it.
Thnx supermoke and necker _________________
