On January 21st, sic and I went to The Pound in San Francisco to see Nile. Here are some of the pictures we took of Hypocrisy and Nile and us. Needless to say Nile killed! But I will let sic add his comments about how the entire concert was.

Awesome Saffy!!! Thanks for sharing those pictures!
I haven't heard from sic in a long time. It'd be cool if he stopped by. _________________ "It's all Venger's fault! We oughtta do something about that guy. " -Eric

first of all...Fuck You all if you don't like Nile! Ha!
The concert was a mixed bag, mostly hardcore/thrash bands. The notables for me were Decapitated, Hypocrisy and Nile. There were 10 bands and sadly the show started at 3:30 pm... see some of us have to work to pay our bills and Saf and I are no exception. When we got there the 4th band was in full swing and to our dismay Decapitated had already played as the 2nd band in the line up... Don't know how that could be, but it was. The only thing I can figure is it would be Decapitated who could give Nile a run for their money in intensity. So somewhere in the lineup, think it was 7th, Hypocrisy played and got the death metal ball rolling again. They were very good but the crowd seemed indifferent to their brand of metal. And with the poor pics I took, I do them no justice.
Somewhere in all this Saff and I had a burrito to keep our energy level up for what was to come... Good thing...fast forward to band no.10...
.....Nile..... Who would think that this band after 13 years would become the monsters that they are. The Pound is a small outdoor place by the oceans edge. A place plopped in the middle of an industrial area on the edge of San Francisco. This night Nile was the center of the world and ruled the Death Metal Universe! Three fukking pits going full bore and Saff and I were on the oasis in the middle of mayhem. For Saff it was initiation by bruises! This was her first pit experience! She spent most of the night keeping the psychos off her feet! Next time, steel toe boots will be the shoe of choice! As far as Nile, the performance, the sound, it was excellent. They bring their own sound engineer(German) and use the house system. Yeah, he used it alright, used and abused, lol. They starte with Dusk Fall Upon The Temple and finished with Von Unaussprechlichen Kulten, both from Annihilation. Interspersed with Shrines and Vengeance the annihilation of the crowd was nonstop, the pit relentless in intensity, constantly watching our backs as not to be coldcocked or blindsided. In all I can't say enough about them other than if you get a chance to see them, especially outdoors, GO!
What's next for the sicNsaf show? well, tomorrow 2/26/06 we're going to the circus....no, not cirque du soliel but, KoRn and Mudvayne at the San Jose State event center. Yeah Yeah, flame us! FUCK YOU!
Also next month we're going on a road trip to Oregon to see Opeth and Dark Tranquility, too bad we're not stoners that would be a good show for some ganja, splif, joint or leño...hahaha.
And then it's back to The Pound to see Morbid Angel and Behemoth...
ok, that's it....
Keep It Brootal!!! |
