Doom Metal goes to the opera
By: Katahl
Date: 7 Aug 2022
Rating:
This album will be hated by the majority here because of the female vocals, and it is very slow and doomy for the most part. But there's some really good song writing and musicianship going on here, and the vocalist (Lori Lewis) has an incredible voice.

I love this album and it's mostly because I got to see them live back in 2007 in San Francisco when they opened for Therion. It was the first show of the tour so both bands were very excited and full of energy. I was lucky enough to make it to the front and I know no one will ever believe me but I swear, while headbanging to "Hymn To The Sun" I looked up and Lori Lewis was looking right at me and she gave me gave this nod like, "Yeah, you like this shit don't you?" True story.

Therion went on after (with Lori Lewis) and killed it of course, and I bought this album on the way out the door and it quickly became one of my favorites. It may not be the heaviest album ever or have grunty vocals, but between the dark nature of the album and the awesome guitar work, it's fucking metal enough to be here \m/
