Scrambled Defuncts present with Souls Despising The God a mix of technical brutal death metal and an orchestra. Ain't gonna lie: either you love it, or you hate it.
Back then when i requested the first 2 albums (Catacomb Abattoir, Hackled in Gore), I said this album isn't good. Compared to their early works, it really is different, but different doesn't mean bad, right?

It starts off with Retribution, a song that'll definitely leave an impression. The first minutes decide, wheter you like it or not. Well, I for one liked it. The mix of death and orchestral sound fits perfect. If you decided to keep listening... Retribution is your decend into madness.
Every track takes a step up in terms of insanity. It varies from fast as a hurricane too slow as shit. The slow sections let you listen to the orchester (which is performed really professional) until it speeds up and starts raining slamming riffs, kick ass drumming, heavy bass and brutal vocals down your ear canal. The songwrting is exquisite and give a prime example of diversity in the face of brutal death metal.
Slough Of Despond reaches the final stage of lunacy. Greeting you with something you'll hear at the very edge of existance...

All this crazyness is good and dandy, but this also makes it kinda hard to listen to casually. To really appreciate the music, you have to really listen to it. It's not a cd to throw in every day, but once in a while. The orchestral pieces can tear on your brain sometimes. Also, they decided to end the album not on the sheer awesomness that is Slough Of Despond, no it ends with two instrumental pieces, which aren't on dfm (thank god!). Those really make your ears bleed, in a bad way.

You can feel it, here went a lot of effort into making this album work. Don't listen to it more than once per week, or you'll end up in a white cell locked up and all alone. Brutal as hell, but feeds on your sanity.
