i completely agree, this problem cannot go away without a large scale war which will be nothing like the Yom Kippur War of 1973. (Globally, this is just one of the open wounds left by the Cold War, which imo will continue to haunt the world in the form of terrorism and resurgent regional conflicts for decades to come. So many foreign policy objectives achieved for temporary gains during that time are now causing headaches and misery for the countries at the epicentre of those ideological battlefields.) The current right wing government in Israel has added fuel to the fire by expanding settlements and talking about a strike on Iran but will not really be daring enough to make a big difference on its own. Yet i feel there will eventually be a saturation point of this stalemate and the result will undoubtedly affect the whole world as a war in this region will turn into a nuclear conflict even though the arab nations still don't have a nuclear arsenal.  |
