I have a lot of what I think are first presses (CD) of some of my fav bands, is there any way to find out if they are or are not first presses?

I think people usually suggest that you look for matrix numbers to make sure if a CD is original, bootleg or first press http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matrix_number Then you can find info by searching http://www.discogs.com http://www.musik-sammler.de (German)
