How about instead of having 1 request thing on the start of the forums page lets put it into parts.
So for example
Instead of request page we could have
Black Metal
Death Metal
Doom
Brutal Death
Other
something like that so it doesnt get all clogged up and some people miss out on some threads because d.fm is getting more popular by the day. I think it will make things much easier for everyone and then theres no arguments on someone is requesting to much
what do you think?

Maybe a good idea but could really ruin the overall oversight of the forums. Maybe you should add a poll to this question.

Remember Jeric adds the cds to the site not us. It also gives Jeric a easier job of looking through the types of bands by genre and if his interested and is album to get the album then he can do so by this.

Good Idea It would be a bit tedious to look up each band that is in there right now and move but with 3 or 4 of us working on them it would go pretty quick.

you could actually work with subfora:
if you click on Request, instead of getting all the topics with requests,
you would get another page with subfora: Death Metal, Black Metal, Doom Metal, Other
that wouldn't mess up the frontpage of the forum, everything would still be clarifying

The genre classification could be gotten from an "oficial" source. i.e. Encyclopedia Matallum.
Some of us would have difficulties to sense subtlies and anyway there will be discussions on what is this or that. Have only one taxonomic source will avoid a lot of discussion.
Of course there will be on E.M. missclassifications or ones not matching the 5 groups defined above by Wally. This should be resolved a posteriori from members opinions or from fights against squirrels...
