Is it just me or does this recording sound vastly different from the original release of Aspera. i swear the vocals are louder, which in turn muddles out the lead guitar, i.e.: towards the end of track 1 To Thou Who Dwellest In The Night. i also noticed it during the second track. i even played with my equalization with the same results. i finally popped in my original cd and it does sound crisper (and it's from '96). i was just wondering if anyone else noticed.

I don't have the original release but I do have the reissues with Constellation and My Angel. It's said they did bring out a lot of stuff that was mixed too low. Of course this means other stuff may not be as prominent. Everybody else I've heard from thought the remaster was better. I can't say but do you think it's because you were more familiar with the original? There are some songs I get on CD that don't sound as good as what I heard on the internet (like a 96 K stream) before realizing I was missing some of the quality. It doesn't mean the song on CD is any worse, just sounds different and I'm not accustomed to it yet.

I have to agree that the sound is different.. Personally I prefer the original version. I am just glad I was able to get 'Constellation' and 'My angel' on CD. It was - and still is - my only reason to be happy wit the release!

Oh yes, it's totally remastered. I thought you knew that, but glad I could help!
