turn off that windows piece of firecrap and install some real firewall like Comodo, it's free. i did that at the office because the bloody winblowz firewall is so "smart" that it blocked Oracle database connections even after i specifically instructed it to leave the listener pass through. it integrates well with windows xp, i hope you don't use vista. oh, and i can tune in to the aac stream through it.

@Digi: Had the same problem (not with oracle of course, but everything else  with Sygate Personal Firewall, after I changed to another Firewall all worked perfectly.

Sygate is awesome! Too bad it is dead. I still use it though on some boxes.

Hi there,
i'm also having trouble connecting to the aac+ streams, but only recently.
It worked well a few months ago, but now i can't connect to it using wmp, vlc or winamp.
I don't have thomson mp3 plugin, windows firewall disabled since installation of winXP (never trusted that one...)
But i am using a netgear router with some kind of built-in firewall, though i disabled almost everything in there that only slightly sounded like "block sthg."
The most annoying is that i can connect at my workplace (behind a windows server running some very strange "custom" SW-firewall and a hardware security gateway with http proxy and every other restriction deluxe you can imagine.
strolled the inet for a while but did not find useful information.
Maybe someone here can point my quest to the right direction.
I'll be grateful for every hint...

both with and without trailing slash
for WMP i tried

and got the same error message as mephard
"unable to negotiate with server
AAC unknown channel mode"
I just discovered that VLC sputtered out some more error messages:
access_http error: failed to read answer
access_http error: failed to read answer
access_mms error: failed to read answer
main error: no suitable access module for `http://hi.death.fm:80'
I'll be at my workplace soon, there I'll check settings there aswell...

Hmm, this is hard to troubleshoot when I can't reproduce the problem and haven't seen this before. The Ogg & MP3 streams work at home though? I wonder if you have some kind of codec conflict on your system. Do you have any other audio software that might be causing a conflict?

Maybe it is a router issue, but I'm really not sure about that. Does it support port forwarding? Maybe you have to do something in that way like opening/forwarding port 80.

hmm, maybe there could be sthg, i installed a demo version of guitar pro a while ago, will kill that one when at home again. Maybe that'll help.
mp3 works fine, haven't tried ogg, will do later as well.
@Dami
well, if port 80 would not be open, i would not be able to surf the net, i think. Or am i just thinking to simple? I don't know that much about this routing and firewall stuff. Got my home network set up without having to dig in to deep into techspecs...

Port 80 is usually open as a default. Have you tried installing the Orban plugin? This may help out as well.

Orban is installed, but isn't that just for wmp?
I uninstalled guitar pro and loads of other stuff that could have to do with codecs (sound recorders, divx player, etc)
No change...
This is beginning to drive me crazy, it _did_ work a month (or so) ago and i just can't figure out what change casued it not to work...
I'm always messing around with my system, installing and deinstalling stuff, and of course i have no system restore point 
i uninstalled and reinstalled winamp with no effect.

Check all services with the admin tools, for anything that might be interfering. Go through all the Internet Setting options and all codecs. All audio and internet related software installed(including video games, anti-virii, firewalls, media players, ect.). Check if your ISP has anti-hacking port-filters or any equipment you might have that does such crap to your connection. Reinstall or update all the related general drivers.

tried the advice of DOSphantom,
de- and reinstalled some codecs and drivers, no success
I don't really know how to check my connection for port filters etc...
Does anyone know a tool i could try?
maybe i'll just do a complete format and a clean install afterwards... |

Whatismyip.com write it down, download nmap, put in your ip using the -PN then from there you can do further diagnosis.
