There has been a bit of talk about stoner metal on the forums recently. (Dr. Schizo got into Electric Wizard  - good move doc). Getting stoned from a nice pipe and listening to stoner metal is one of my greatest pleasures. For me no other music is more suitable for being stoned and fucked-up to than Stoner Metal.
For those who are intesested below is the names of the Stoner bands I like and links for you to sample the delights of this insanely wierd and excellent music!
Electric Wizard (my fave) - Wrote two of the most fucked-up and stoned albums ever; 'Come My Fanatics' and 'Dopethrone' (and 'Supercoven' EP)

Ramesses - Band of 2 ex-members who featured on Electric Wizards albums above. Great heavy stoner tunes, best at the beginning of a session.

The Abmoinable Iron Sloth - latest stoner metal I have heard, has grindcore influences, wierdness and beefy riff-blasting. Well worth checking out. If you can find it get hold of this track: Hot Pink Shell of My Former Self and Distand Pond from the Rivers of Human Limelight.

Iron Monkey - 2 Great albums, and some cool song titles. Sadly disbanded, this group had snarly death metal vocals with massivley heavy, beefy riffs. A more upbeat stoner band

Yeah Kyuss were pretty cool. Green Machine is a great song.
Queens of the Stoneage aren't stoner metal dude. no way.

Love High On Fire, other good ones are the Hidden Hand, Alabama Thunderpussy, Diablo Red, Blood Farmers. And I gotta check out Iron Monkey.

I wouldn't call Cult of Luna a stoner metal band, they are just incredibly good music, and they need to be here, but no success so far. Saw them live 1 1/2 years ago, pretty fucking incredible. I would put The Beyond right up there with Salvation, it is the one previous to Salvation and its where their unique sound really develops.

Honestly I find it hard to see the difference between the majority of stoner and just plain doom anyways, you decide...
