I just got the new Marduk of a torrent program and i want to let all the Marduk fans out there know about it.
To sum it up in a few words. Strange, creepy, brutal, different, slower.
Its fuckin insane. Very wierd and nothing like any Marduk u have heard before. In some parts its quite thrashy and catchy and in others blindingly swift. It sees Morgan Haakanson provide a wider variety of riffing including more slower parts and also establishes Mortuus within the band. He has obviously had a much greater influence on the recording this time as there are quite a few eye opening vocal parts.
There are some near underwater fucked-up rantings and even some clean vocal parts on some of the slower songs. Yes you read that right - clean singing on a Marduk album. Also there is a well funny undead constipation opening to the song 'Vanity of vanities' which rips it up in a more traditional Marduk style.
I honestly thought they were running out of ideas on the last record even though I still liked it, but after hearing this for the first time it has totally blown me away and given me new hope that the beast that is Marduk is still attacking with full force and devastation.
There is a very medieval theme running throught the album too, which weighs in at 55 miutes. Its nice to hear a change in production too. Its much clearer but dirtier on ROM 5:12 (if that makes sense).
To sum it up; Marduk have new ammunition in their Panzers and are using it with intelligence and gusto. Its a fuckin' ripper and I advise any Marduk fan to prepare for a change. Disgard all you thought you knew and open your Marduk brain!!

well... after their latest releases i gave up hope on marduk. that they now did slower songs doesn't make me happy but i'll check out the new stuff. |

Yeah it's decent, some songs are a little boring though. This is very simple black metal.

No way! I think this album rips and marks a decent new direction for Marduk. I guess the 8 minute songs could have been chopped by a minute but in my opinion the riffing is nice and beefy and the fucked-up undead singing really makes it for me.

well Waffen I listened to the album today, and sure is different.. listened only once so cannot give my definitive verdict, but I think is a very good album.. they needed to change, I guess they made the right choice.. anyway, it's one of those albums U need to listen several times to fully appreciate.. so far so good.
