OK, topic at hand. LOL

In no particular order

1. Novembers Doom
2. My Dying Bride
3.. Agalloch
4. Swallow the Sun
5. Officium Triste

And if you mean of all time, not just currently, I'll have to think on that awhile, definitely MDB and Agalloch would still be there. But these are my current favorites (of ones that I have all their albums), the ones that end up in the cd player time and time again. I would also add Thurisaz and Daylight Dies, but you only said 5. ask Razyutis if it is doom or not, he is the master of metal genres. look for example into his "top 5 death metal" thread. i bet he will tell u what doom is with pleasure.

In no particular order:

My Dying Bride
Draconian
Evoken
Mourning Beloveth
Swallow The Sun
(new) Candlemass & Solitude Aeternus (I'm a HUGE fan of Rob's vocals)
Doom:VS
Runemagick (most active Doom band ever)
Novembers Doom
The Prophecy
and now listening to Keen Of The Crow and this sounds damn good as well

No way I can make a top 5 of my fav doom bands, it all depends on the feeling at the moment. F.ex. right now I'm addicted to Swallow The Sun, Runemagick and especially the new Candlemass.
ok let's see...

first ones of my dying bride
You will note that in the best doom album thread my pick is "Turn Loose the Swans". IMO, early MDB defined the direction of the doomier Doom to come.
