Black Sabbath or Iron Maiden?
Has either of these bands really influenced Metal the way mainstream media portrays them as an influence?
Explain your answer in as much or as little detail as you want _________________ I Toast the Sky, That Light Shall Never Rule Again! |

Agree with Misan, Sabbath.
I follow a very close second, though, you just don't notice me. (I've been around a lot longer than them. ) _________________ Not dead, just sleeping.

Black Sabbath for sure
and, just to name only one reason: they're older than Iron Maiden, and (in my opinion) every band influenced by Iron Maiden, is then actually also influenced by Black Sabbath... _________________ We were, fair queen,

So zarquin, since I'm much older than Sabbath, therefore I must have influenced them, and then they influenced those that came after. To follow the logic even further, it only stands to reason I am the root and source of all metal. _________________ Not dead, just sleeping.

Good answer. I was wondering how long it would take someone to post an answer like this. I agree with Sabbath as the answer, but Maiden also speak for themselves. _________________ I Toast the Sky, That Light Shall Never Rule Again! |

I don't know why, but I don't like Maiden.. I admit they are an essential band for metal, but I kinda hate them..oops _________________ None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free - Goethe

I knew some old smartass would simplify my statement
I don't think you're the root and source of all metal, it's not because you have a lot of bodyparts replaced by metallic parts...
how's that like, a titanium hip?

black sabbath influenced alot of metal genres, there called the 1st metal band.
but... real metal like death, black, thrash are influenced by AC/DC, think about it,
DM-BM-TM riffs are AC/DC riffs played 3-5 times faster. _________________ |=*=Razy=*=|

I hate ACDC, always did, always will. I hate to think they influenced anyone. _________________ Not dead, just sleeping.

Well, I can't say I hate AC/DC, but there is no denying their influence. I would like to have been able to see where they went had Bon Scott lived. _________________ I Toast the Sky, That Light Shall Never Rule Again! |

Black Sabbath for creating a genre and being original. Nobody heard anything like that before at the time.
Iron Maiden for their technical skills. They have always rocked but, take it to the next level with technical riffs and ear piercing vocals that will melt your brain.
