How about locking all songs longer than 6 or maybe 7 minutes if queue
reaches 2 hours, then everyone is afraid of getting less music for much wait
time and all pick long tracks, first the non-subscribers, then the RIP's are
annoyed of their increased wait time and take revenge, et voila, we have a
3 hour queue within a few minutes by choosing only 4 or 5 songs. |
this is what i call universal solution like it too _________________

This sounds like communism, doesn't it? Why lock the longer songs, they are as good as the other ones. Limiting the expressivity of the station because of *cough* size concerns doesn't sound fair. The point system is a better idea. _________________ diginferno

Already wrote it to another thread, it isn't communism, but the law of the
market and it's a difference if someone takes care of queue lenght and
chooses short songs or some others pick as much as they can, and songs
above 10 minutes or even more ARE annoying. |

I could care less about any of this proposed so far. But what I would REALLY like to see is a limit put on one genre of song in queue, like there can only be a certain number of annoying grind and piggy and other stupidly useless songs in a queue at one time. There are many times when I turn off this station and listen to my own stuff because the damn queue is filled with annoying grunting, incomprehensible noise. _________________ Not dead, just sleeping.

@Blas: <rant>please quit giving me this [insert obscenity here] about marketing. This station is not about bestsellers and this is exactly what keeps it attractive and original. Am I wrong? Want bestsellers, join MTV or other [insert another, different obscenity here, we don't want to get people bored by repeating ourselves] commercial station playing exactly what you want. What's boring to you may not be boring for other people.</rant>
@CJ: I fully agree, it's getting boring if it's too linear. But that diversity rule would be rather difficult to implement, imo. _________________ diginferno

digi, it would be easier if Jeric would just add a bunch more doom and bm. _________________ Not dead, just sleeping.

i only invest mind no money i don´t have anyway
This is a basis for a decission to take effect. So it´s not supposed to stay pure theory.

Digi when did i say i want bestsellers?
It's obvious i start or support threads with almost unknown bands or raw BM.
The point is i'm just annoyed of long songs, they prevent diversity 'cause only
1 song in 20 minutes, yawn, but of course those who request such doom
(insert insult: here) are afraid of getting lost of their chances to blow up the
queue with boredom. |

Boredom is in the eye of the bored. For example, I get bored out of my mind by the so called "brutal" stuff, to me its just noise. But I can listen to doom and bm all day (and I do), with some occasional decent death thrown in. _________________ Not dead, just sleeping.

@Blas: If you noticed, I sometimes request long songs, then I stop requesting for a while or don't request any more that day or I request a completely different genre. CJ also requests little. I think it's just your crusade against long songs. While I can understand that you don't like that music, I don't understand your anger at people who enjoy it. We're not abusing it, anyway. What if I started bitching about your Dissection series? I love their music, but it was just too often in the queue. Now don't get me wrong, I appreciate and respect your contributions to the playlist. Would it be too much to expect a little consideration instead of a crusade?

Well dont be expecting to see any changes soon because the coder is MIA Jeric and I were chatting the other night for about two hours. The station is running great the way it is. The que does get a little out of hand sometimes yes but guess what.... That means there is more ppl listening to DFM and making more requests. I do agree the system picks some shitty songs but like I said in another thread THIS IS A RADIO STATION NOT A CD PLAYER if it played what you wanted all the time then it would be a CD player. _________________ - Does this hurt ? -
