@misan: maybe you're just talking about the north american youth...
if so, it wouldn't suprise my they're a bunch of sheep, most things on TV got a strong censorship (don't get me wrong: no censorship on fictive violence or sex, but censorship on the news,...)
I also wouldn't really know about Europe's youth, I don't have much friends underneath 18. But I can say that the university-students here aren't brainless at all. Luckily most of them formed themselves an opinion of their own about a lot of things. It's always cool to discuss, I guess we, students, are addicted to discussing (and offcourse also partying,...)

German youth is dumb and getting dumber by the day, that's what I can conclude from my experiences. Luckily there are some exceptions.

Of course I don't use the public school system,
I've been home schooled most of my life(with extra
classes on the side), and usually have to wind up
explaining the seemingly most obvious things to my
friends about crap(politics, computers, science, religion, economics, ect.).
