real hardcore is outta punk, think of bands as Ignite, Gorilla Biscuits, Shelter(old albums), Sick of it All, Youth of Today, Suicidal Tendencies and so on...they are close to punk. Thus u can call those bands: Hardcore Punk.

and there is some more metal hardcore as Strife, 108, Merauder, Earth Crisis and so on. This is Hardcore

Real hardcore came out of punk music and still has a lot punk influences.

@Razyutis: ignorant fuck Cool
I've been intensively busy with metal (and music in general) since 11 years now, I even studied it. We've seen a lot about the history of music and the creation of numerous genres and subgenres

Grindcore still doesn't fully belong to metal, with that I'm not saying it has no (mayor) metal-influences, but I'm talking about the whole musical structure of their songs, the chords, the lyrics,...
most grindcore (even goregrind) is still music with a big "Fuck the world"-sense. just like punk is all about.

But grindcore also doesn't fully belong to punk, mostly because of the tight and heavy guitarsound.

and where the hell did I even imply thrashcore, deathcore are the same? they're hybrids from respectively thrash or death with hardcore, leading to thrashcore or deathcore. metalcore is 2 things: its the headgenre of all metal-punk hybrids and it's a hybrid of hardcore with "softer metal" like heavy and speed.

in my last post I expressed myself a bit wrong, I've should have written hc , mc and gc are a punk- and metal-subgenre. the metalcore I was talking about was the headgenre.

@cherubian:
all bands you named are hardcore (punk), but some of them still have more of a punk sound, while others more tend to sound like metal. but they are still (every single one of them) hardcore punk, cause of their song structures, lyric base,...

p.s.: razy,
Woah
there's nothing wrong with being openminded, it's goddamn easy. I can go to any festival/party/... and I'm sure I'll like the music (except if it's too emolike or if it are schlagers that are played). It's not forbidden to admit you're jealous of it Very Happy LOL Silly
I didn't even have the intention to act like a metal expert, and I still don't have that intention. I'm just writing what I've always been taught. and if it comes over as chaotic, I can't do a thing about it, with a chaotic mind that jumps from this to anything else every second, it's impossible not to write chaotic.

Can listen to many metal genres (with exception of maybe sludge, some doom, etc.) but my priority have these:

Black, Ambient, Viking, Folk, Thrash, Death
