Hi Jeric,
Maybe it shouldnīt be too difficult to add a fourth drop down option by copying code and making an SQL advice???!
Ok here is the idea; there is a random button ok...
But i felt certain mood a day and wanted try out some new stuff fitting into current mood i had so ithought: "Hey some doom now" but didnīt know which band to pick.
How about a search criteria by genre? mainly based on your entered genre hint in the album info?!

Where is the sense in that suggestion?
If a member wants to pick a song at least i expect some knowledge about
genres not this "hey cool" behaviour of retarded trend kiddies we're
connoisseurs of extreme music, not stupids in here. |

Ok i think i have to explain:
It is not about discussing if this or that band is labeled right (RAZY!!!) itīs about to help ppl who like a certain genre and can filter database:
1. the album infos are already complete and donīt need extra addtion
2. only put up keywords that catch all albums : Death*, Black*, Grind*,Goth*,Doom*
I donīt want the team to go through 2400 albums and label them but to
put a filter over what is already there.

ok. the idea is good. to implement it, there is necessary to think about the other stations. i don't know if they have a genre fulfilled already.
anyway, and besides the geniality of 'a fourth option wouldnīt bother', i vote yes.

The same? Since i joined DFM i chose songs from more than 100 different
bands (several albums), not my fault that much crap in playlist besides my
suggestion was no repeat 10 days, just check the thread, the amount of
new artists i discovered on DFM increased my collection in opposite to my
bank account so your arguments lacking from logic. |

ok logic: 8 days no repeat; but: as soon as album played itīs put into queue again; thats why all are red
http://death.fm/modules.php?name=Top66&type=requestedtracks
i think dissection, urgehal, profundi, raise hell, naglfar is: yours
and why need logic to discover new stuff? Well is it logic to wait 24hours/7days to wait until somebody picks a good song?!
Maybe you can share your discovery with us _________________

You forgot Naglfar, Dark Funeral plus some of my donations none likes
it seems...
Besides, who said i want to discover new stuff, sometimes i return from
work and just want to listen to some of my fav songs no need for
showing off "look i'm the coolest who knows the most unknown band ever
and picks crap only to avoid bitching of people who think tolerance=positive".

I do like discovering stuff I never heard, I spend a lot of time doing it, and once in a while even suggest some of it here, sometimes to a general WTF. Its not to be cool or anything, I've just listened to so much of the same crap over the years anything new and refreshing is good...and cool. BTW, I like this idea, sometimes I'll want to request something but I just can't remember the name of the band, so narrowing it down by genre would be VERY helpful at times.
There is some stuff that is just standard, though, and will never get boring. Several of the early Norwegian bm bands (you know which ones), a few doom bands, and of course my all time favorite, Agalloch. Those bands I can hear over and over again and don't need a search function to find them. Heck, I listen to "The Mantle" all the way thru at least a couple times a week.
And at least 90% of what I listen to aint on here anyway. _________________ Not dead, just sleeping.
