Debauchery vocalist Thomas "The Bloodbeast" Gurrath was sacked from his position as a philosophy trainee teacher at a high school in Stuttgart in Germany due to the "violent" content of his music. Gurrath was given the choice by the educational authorities between continuing his job teaching ethics to 14-year-old students and maintaining his career as a death metal vocalist. Gurrath, however, refused to give up Debauchery, which caused him not only to lose his job at his school, but also to be banned from teaching anywhere in the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg as long as he continues to be a member of a death metal band.
The school governors were apparently not aware of his links to death metal when they hired him. However, one supervisor at the school discovered the band's website and informed the authorities. The parents and the school officials were horrified when they saw some of the band's promotional materials which feature naked women covered with blood and sado-masochistic equipment. The officials described the band's live shows as signs of "mental disability" and decided that it is not safe for children to be in the same classroom with Gurrath.
"It was very worrying to listen to his music and then realise he was teaching our children," said one parent.
Gurrath defended the content of his band's music, which includes songs with titles such as "Kill Maim Burn" and "Torture Pit", claiming that it only reflect the violence in the world around him. "I would never give up my music just because the education authorities order it," he stated firmly.

hmm yeah I heard of it. Nobody is forced to be free, However the singer chose to be free and continue his private pursuit of making metal music. It´s indeed questionable if a professional teacher - neutrally - tries explain the different branches of philosophy but himself lives a destructive philosophy.
Sure he can teach tools and methods how to deduct a solution of a founded problem. But philosophy and it´s conclusions changed throughout decades and it´s Zeitgeists. You can sure oppose that it´s impossible to teach philosophy at all, cause everyone (e.g. a listener of classic) or every opinion could emphasize the wrong.
But I won´t let the "tolerate everything and we love everyone" count on this one. Cause lyrics can be read. They may have a meaning or not them are written to be interpreted. Death Metal vocals or - Debauchery the prolly version of it - do not only talk of given truths like Death/diseases/illnesses or murder but also of sexism, degradation and sometimes "politics" or "philosophies" which are true to be spoken freely but surely can´t be seen as neutral.
Someone who tells me : "I can seperate professional from private" isn´t right. Cause therefore we are individuals. A mathematician can count 1+1 - wether he is introvert or not. But his colleagues will also ackknowledge how he tells it.
Same a philosopher he can teach the methods neutral. But his personality counts in how he takes influence on what he teaches. Therefore I
think it´s not right to let someone teach philosophy which has it´s main impact on the way how to see life, live life or understand a zeitgeist. Being a teacher which lives the "metal" life and sings of violence and sexism has an influence on the kids cause in his lessons they wil talk exactly about what life is. So I don´t think that he can´t talk of platon and exclude his own thinkings.
Kids have to explore and make experiences themselves. A teacher might give the wrong ideals.
Maybe we live in a world of lie and deceit an wrong ideals. But kids have to see that themselves.
And why do I say this? Metal is a way to express revolt against something- either yourself, some personal or social thing. Metal has mostly a negative connotation vocally and emotionally (despite the technical freaks who do it for showoff skills). So living metal is expressing something to world. the Vocalist can live metal but has to be also consequent to live metal. And that´s just what he did.
He don´t fit that position if he wants to metal - but also death metal.

So, it's ethical to show the direst crimes on news at peak hours, when kids can see them, but don't talk about them, that's not ethical *rolls eyes*
Syuuuuuureeeeee, just give the kids some cartoons, like "Cow and Chicken" or "Ren and Stimpy". Those are butterflies landing on white roses, aren't they?

Actually, I don't believe it. If he was a teacher (read: a state employee), I don't think he can realy be fired, he'd have to shoot his supervisor for that, or something along those lines. They might have relocated his duty from philosophy to math, or to a different town, or given him something entirely different to do (maybe an office job), though.
(e) Ok, he wasn't really a teacher yet, but being in his education as a teacher. That's a different thing, so looks like things are true.

well anyway the point is in that whether the govermental lackeys can order around it's people or not. I would have understood if he would be criminal by the german law, and i alltough not german my self i think that beeing an death metal singer is not criminal in germany. If in teaching has been used uncommon methods or "not filling hes job" then it is understandable if the band takes more time than teachin ( now i mean working time... to be much away from work) or inharased any of the kids.
