If you are browsing a topic, and then click on "View previous/next topic", you'll jump to the first page of that topic. Would it be possible to jump automatically to the last one (if the topic has more pages)?

Teh goto last page option is already available in topics that have multiple pages.
For e.g. This particular topic given below, has 14 pages. When you are at teh first page of teh topic, just above "New Topic" button, Goto Page & numbers are listed. If you notice, teh first 3 pages & teh last 3 pages are listed.

Additionally, each topic in a forum has teh first page & last 3 pages being numbered next to teh topic name.
Hope teh explanation was not confusing.

I know, but if you click in a topic on "View previous topic" and the previous topic has more pages, you get to the first page. Then you have to click on the number of the last page. So - if there are any new messages on the last page - they won't be highlighted anymore.

Locate the "Display posts from previous:" double combo at bottom of topic page.
Select "Newest First" in the second combo.
Click "Go".
The pages linked by "View previous topic" and "View next topic" will display their posts in the desired order.
