Don't be afraid, Fartillery Cool!
I meant it's a offer to a blow-job

Artillery Breath – “Inhuman”

On December 29, 2012, in CD / MP3 / EP, Freebie of the Week, News, Review, by Loucifer
.. . .

I’ve had this one in my collection for quite some time and, since I’ve got a couple of hours free today, I thought I’d make a start on some of the reviews I’ve been meaning to write… so, here we go…

Oh, and this one also handily doubles-up as a Freebie of the Week as one of the tracks is available on Last.fm. How awesome is that?

“Inhuman” is a beast of an album. It’s loud, it’s fast and it’s violent. In fact, their Facebook page informs us that the band “Drinks more than Pantera and Motely Crue combined, plays faster than shit, looks weird naked, and promises to rip your ugly face off and flush it down the toilet”… and I’m inclined to believe them.

On first listen the music appears to be frantic and chaotic – its primary aim seems to be to rip the flesh from your bones and hurl it around the room. However, on closer inspection, there’s some damn fine musicianship here – there is order in the chaos. The band is tight. The riffs successfully gallop into your brain and infect it with ease (check out “Animalistic Murder” for a superb example of this) and the structure of the tracks is bang on. This isn’t a case of metal-by-numbers, this is something far more natural. Artillery Breath appear to be playing this stuff because they love it.

I’m not entirely sure on how to categorise this band in terms of genre. For the most part, I consider them to be a Thrash band, but elements of Death and Black Metal surge through the recording and threaten to take over at various points.

If this album doesn’t make you want to headbang and play air guitar, there is something seriously wrong with you.

Rating: 84%
