86-95. Because its my time , when i was listening to and I was "in mainstream". And i'm still listening to the albums from those years.
Many great new groups comes later, but I think they are so good because they listen to to the metal in 86-95 ;D |

I have to go with 85-95 some of the so called new brutal death metal is shitty, their is no heart anymore in what they record nowadays.I do not want to name any bands but half of the new stuff sounds like a bunch of dudes met on a friday night ,never even played an instrument before got the money to record a cd and they did because they have money or its more easy to obtain nowadays, anyways that's my 2 cents |

i'd have to agree. death metal has lost its soul - all you hear about anymore is the hot new band from who knows where who plays blindingly complicated technical brutal death. it's just not interesting anymore - too many bands sound exactly the same, and compared to luminaries like Morbid Angel and Obituary, they fall far short. |

There's always been great metal bands out there.
As far I've seen more in 1986-1995, so that's were my vote is gonna go. |

I guess every time had a lot of good bands. It may be true that more crap is recorded and sold nowadays, but that's just how things are: If you have to, you can record and produce your album on your PC and the result won't be too bad if you have an idea what you are doing.
Bad thing about today's metal to me is that it has come too close to the mainstream. Every damn hiphop-kid that wants to play evil runs arround in a slipknot shirt and thinks this is what metal is about...
But a very good thing is that a lot of small bands can start to make music and CDs, because it became so easy. So there are many small local bands in the cities that aren't that bad and do their concerts for little money.
Finally i won't rate any era higher than the others.
P.S.: Maybe my english isn't perfect... if anyone likes to correct my mistakes: feel free! Always happy when getting help to improve my skills. |
