It would seem that bm is history and [the so called] "brutal" dm belongs the future.
This isn't really a new piece of information...

I think to give a shit about anything is abnormal in modern society, ofcourse i cannot speak in the world wide view of things, but it seems that information overflow has killed the basic curiosity of man, the same curiosity that made us once "civilized and genious".
I actually do not know does the man speak truth or not, i think it is in that situation that nobody knows the truth anymore _________________ i am so ebil that i piss darkness |

Deathgrind was created when a slaughterhouse worker fell into a meat grinder while listening to some Deicide on his Zune. The breeeeee sound made by his bones being pulverized combined with the brutal death metal was recorded by Ed Gein on a shotgun microphone as he drove past the factory. Ed went on to form the first deathgrind band, Cuntgrinder, using sound clips recorded during his killing sprees.

I agree. I believe it's important to know the history of the music you listen to. How and why it got started keeps the music from becoming another stupid cliché.
Most black metal, where I live anyway, has many influences. Most of which are the dark sagas from the viking age. The code of honor that runs through the blood of many people in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and countries with very similar histories is what drives the music. It could be what drove Varg to do what he did. If you listen to his story, he tells it the same every time. He was offended. Just like he is offended by the Christian community in Norway. Christian communities in Norway really do not have true knowledge of the ground they build their churches over in Norway. They came to Norway and told them the religion (that was formed long before they showed up) was wrong, that pantheism was wrong, and that they needed to repent or spend eternity in hell.
The Norse and the Christian have opposite beliefs in Armageddon. Which where all just subconscious reflections on their own fate and their surroundings.
With the Norse beliefs, Ragnarok or ”the fate of the gods” begins when the earth is caught in the vice-like grip of a bone-chilling freeze. The heavens themselves freeze over, as the gods perish in great battles with evil serpents and murderous wolves. Eternal darkness settles over the bleak, frozen land as the sun and moon are both devoured. Odin, the father of all gods, finally falls to his death, and time itself comes to a halt. This could say something about our future. Ever since the work of Edwin Hubble in the 1920s, scientists have known that the universe is expanding, but most have believed that the expansion was slowing as the universe aged. In 1998, astronomers at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the Australian National University calculated the expansion rate by studying dozens of powerful supernova explosions within distant galaxies, which can light up the entire universe. They could not believe their own data. Some unknown force, now known as dark matter, was pushing the galaxies apart, causing the expansion of the universe to accelerate. Our universe is destine to end in a freeze if things keep expanding until the heat from our sun cannot reach us, or until our sun blows up and vaporizes everyone on earth.
The Christian belief of Armageddon is just the opposite. They believe the heavens will open and there will be fire and brimstone, etc. Remember that the climate in the middle east (where Christianity formed) is a very hot place. It's also not unlikely that in this time of Christianity's formation some believers might have seen small asteroids impact the earth's atmosphere and light up with fire, etc.
Taking the black metal and these facts I've just revealed into consideration, you can see where the influence of history and the surroundings of the people from the north who play black metal come from. Music is artistic expression. Nordic black metal bands are simply expressing their culture and feelings that run through their veins through black metal.
So there you have it, Lunar. I hope this has helped you out some in learning about Norwegian black metal.

Burzum is so full of shit, but he's crazy enough he might believe his own story.
Not that I care that much. It's all ancient history, personally I don't feel threatened by him. _________________ Don't write in, it's just for fun! |
