I do not know about others but I have noticed that there has been an increasingly popular trend within the Deathcore/Metalcore scene lately and it involves fusing Deathcore or metalcore with another genre of music. Now this usually seems like an everyday thing but lately the Core-kids are focusing their attentions on fusing the most popular genres of music with deathcore E.G. Some have been fusing Djent with Deathcore and calling it "Djent-core" while others are doing it with dubstep. I don't understand why they are doing it. Is it some new Hipster thing or something or are they trying their best at experimenting? I don't really know myself. Lately it's the "Hip" thing to get a random music genre and put the word "Core" at the end of it with characteristics usually involving palm muted open string breakdowns and pig squealing of deathcore bands while playing along to the rhythm of some techno dub song (This is an example).

So I'm curious: Has anyone else noticed this lately?

(Just a few notes:

1. When i mean "Core" i mean Deathcore and Metalcore not Grindcore
2. I am not a fan of Djent or Dubstep and I really dislike Metalcore and Deathcore)

Sounds like an attempt to inject new life into a stagnant genre. So, um...Blackened Death Metal anyone?

You might also have noticed that this crap is growing again on DFM.

Jeric made this thread but dunno why he changed his mind cause he's adding that scum nowadays on the updates...

Btw, they can blend it with other genres/tendences, but it's never gonna be considered like "Metal", just kids crap

Tha main point you are all failing to discover about "these genres" is you wont see pure DM or BM. What you will find is Deathcore/ Metalcore. Its pretty much the only sample of what can be in "this metal worlds" we are in.

People listne to Job for a Cowboy and they are like wow thats hard. Then the find Cannibal Corpse, then Origin. It only get progressivly more awesome. This Metal/Deathcore is the only way to rell in the brainwashed morons think its cool to listen to "metal" on the radio and know what they are talking about.

So even tho im not a fan of ALL Death/ Metalcore you CAN relate to use more then Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Justin Beiber. Not all NON DM and BM is bad, you need to know how its like from people that have never heard of our tastes before.

A good example is starting with Weed then progression to cocaine, instead of jumping right to crystal meth. You need to work your way up to being an addict.

Just a note: Im not comparing these "projects" to metal, What i'm trying to determine is if anyone else has noticed a major influx of these bands appearing on social networking sites and such. And the thing is it isn't about progressing either it is more about experimenting with two musical genres which are not only completely different from each other but are also considered the most "Popular" for one main reason: To be part of the "Cool crowd" or for the publicity an example being the painful genre known as crunkcore(Although Crunkcore isn't that successful it is just a simple example as core and crunk were two rising genres).

Fusing two genres of music is a very common style in the music industry however they have to be compatible with each other.
That's is why IMO Blackened death metal works because both black metal and death metal have similar characteristics while Deathcore fused with Dubstep/Chiptune Does not. These people aren't interested in listening or progressing to metal, they just want to take the easiest/ most successful thing, lazily chop it together and call it "Experimentation".

Basically metal is coming back. In its own way which so happens to be fusing other shit with shit and calling it shit. OK!

I have seen that there is a slight growth on these new genres, i am using some of my free time to aid new bands to create demos ets. and i have to say that the majority of new bands what i have worked with actually does not fit in to the core genre.

This kind of upcoming or rising of these relatively new sub-genres are i think more seen in the countries what do not have a alive and kicking extreme metal genres and audiences.

Metal genre is alive, and therefore all sort of musical evolution still exsists. Some influences are taken from individual genres and they been mixed up to create new ones also to mention that population needs new "blood" from outside of the population to be able to mutate in to new genres.

I see these metal and whatever core bands as a result of this kind of evolution, altought i am not into these genres, i still find some of them rather ok.

Anyway it seems that this kind of music actually supports all extreme metal growth in sales and in numbers of audience, which acts also as leverage for creating new, undeground and less popular music styles to fill in the spaces left empty by the older ones which have risen more popular.

As long as this kind of "engine of evolution" is on, the main genre moves forward and does not start to de-generate and turn towards itself and eventually would fall in to oblivion or something.

The new genres, sub-genres and sub-sub-genres actually are the fuel to keep the engine going, some of these genres are up to survive, some are been supported to survive and some of them are to die.

this is just a tought.. and filled with typos
