All of DFM's MP3/mp3PRO streams have been converted to aacPlus. aacPlus offers better sound quality than mp3PRO at the same bitrate. I will continue to update this post as I know more.

Troubleshooting Checklist
Winamp: Make sure "Enable (use mp3PRO Decoder for all .mp3 files) is off. (Winamp Preferences > Plugins > Input > THOMSON)
Windows Media Player: Install this plugin, reboot, then click the listen icon.
List of Supported Players
    Winamp 5.2x (Windows)
    foobar2000 (Windows)
    VLC media player (Cross Platform)
For those of you using iTunes I recommend finding a new player in order to get the full potential of the stream quality.

For people that listen to SST at work with WMP and have restrictions on their PCs that prohibit them from installing the plug-in or Winamp I am working on a solution for that.

Hello Jeric, does this AAC streaming mean you have now excluded all mac users from listening to death.fm?

EDIT: Ok, everythings works well now with the VLC player. Great sound! Thanx for the info Vestdam!

Same problem for me, I'm on linux and for now I don't see any way do listen to aac streams Sad

Cheers
Philipp

EDIT: Maybe I was a bit fast on this, after some more searching there might be a chance for me, but I'll have to look into this when I have more time.

Try VLC media player (http://www.videolan.org/)

You can find precompiled binaries for various operating systems (including Mac OS X and several linux distributions) here:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

The player seems to play the AAC+ stream from death.fm just as well as Winamp 5.21. It works for me on windows, but I guess it should work on other platforms as well.... Try it out...

Cheers

Yeah I agree, even if its 48k pro nuthing beats ogg 64. That was nice and it was compatable with my shitty pc, with good sound quality... With this 48 it sounds as if some bass is missing among other things. But thats my opinion.

Good news for when I get back to my PC... *thumbs up*

Although sitting here at the locked-down "Open Lab" PCs at the college, WMP now mocks me... LOL

Too bad they locked-down executables from thumbdrives, or I could just throw up some Winamp. Wink

I upgraded the bitrates to 32k and 64k. I noticed a sbig difference from 24k to 32k. Let me know what you all think of the sound quality.

I think the sound qual is good. In my op the right decision cause aac+ is the most efficient codec out there! pleaze stick to it and don't change to fucking wma wich is more comparable with mp3pro wich sucked! or at least keep the aac+ as parallel stream!

Thanks for the feedback so far. We still have OGG streams by the way. I was thinking of removing them but I'm going to keep them for now. I will re-add Ogg links soon to the Listen block.

http://dir.xiph.org/index.php?sgenre=&stype=&search=Death.FM

If/When we add WMA it would a supplement not replacement.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I don't think I can listen at work with this stream. They have our computers blocked so I can't install software and I can't seem to play this on Windows Media Player or Real- which are the only 2 players on this computer. Sad Any suggestions? Am I missing something?

I can't seem to get the ogg to work either. Sad
