From Burzum.org:
The lyrics on "Umskiptar" are all taken from a Norse poem, Völuspá. For an English translation of the lyrics see the book "Sorcery And Religion In Ancient Scandinavia".
"The "Umskiptar" album is also a return-to-the-roots album for me, with a strong focus on atmosphere and wholeness rather than anything else. The vocals on this one however are more important than on any other album, with a total of 66 stanzas, some of them even repeated a few times, making up the lyrics of the album. The vocals are very important for the special atmosphere and are more important than on any other Burzum album, and more varied too – and as honest as it gets".
The concept of the album is "Umskiptar" (English = "Metamorphoses"), a deeply rooted European (i.e. Pagan) Stoic concept of changes. This concept was chosen in a world heading for a new Ice Age, and can therefore also be seen as critique of all the popular political movements of our age of lies". I'm very excited about this one!
Really looking forward to hear what Varg made this time, since he has never disappointed me with any of his albums! |

he's desperate to make more money, that's why 1 album/year .. I loved Belus but Fallen was disappointing for me.. Varg is a fkn retard, and that coming from a Burzum fan _________________ None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free - Goethe

I don't think he is doing this for the money.
As mentioned in another thread, he has been in prison for 16 years, with very limited ability to delevop music and be creative, so a logical assumption would be, he have got a shitload of ideas for music after all these years, and now when he is free again, and able to create music, it would only be naturally for him to make a shitload of music.
Then its a question if you like what he makes or not, but thats a completely different thing
Personally I like what he makes. He is way more experimental than most other bands, and his music is deeply personal (A very good thing imo!), which I believe is one of the things that guarantee the extremly high quality of his music. |

I have total faith in Burzum, musically speaking. I'm sure the new album will be excellent. _________________ Don't write in, it's just for fun! |
