First time poster, long time listener. I had an idea that had sparked some interest from other chatters. I thought something that could be cool feature, would be if we could vote on an album to be played. Whichever album gets the most votes (obviously one vote per IP) would be played at a predetermined time (or perhaps take a vote on that as well, or take an average of all voter's time zone?). The album would play all the way through, with no interruptions, and requests would just go into the queue after "Death hour" was over.

So, what does everybody think?

Make it one vote per username, to avoid cheating and dynamic IP issues. Very Happy

But I think it's a great idea, this may be a better way to get more pertinent album ratings and also for the listener to get a clearer idea about a band's personality.

Depending on the hour at which it is played (peak hours, etc.) it might be better off that requests are disabled, just to prevent idiots from queueing up insane amounts of shit.

However, I don't know how much work that would require since I'm not familiar with the queue system.

I'm guessing the album that is played would probably end up being manually entered into the queue by an admin as well.

Sounds like the makings of a decent idea though 8)

I think it's a good idead, except we have some CDs that are longer than an hour i.e. anthing by Opeth. Depends if people want to sit through ahour and a half album sometimes, also there are some that are really short too.

Yeah, I've been looking through some of the albums, and the total runtime is at least an hour and a half. And like you said, there are some that will probably only be 20-30 minutes. I guess that's a chance we're willing to take though (just look at the votes Wink ).

I think an addendum to the album being played, is that it can't be repeated in 5 days (just like songs), but if someone requests a song from it (through the current queue), it should still play during the album play, and vice versa.

The songs played in the Album Hour shouldn't be repeatable for five days as every other song played. (And vice versa: never thought about that problem.) Because the time-limiting of repeats seems to be very substancial for a fairly handled queue.

I'm sure there would be an over ride to take care of that problem.

That's a very good point, as it is quite easy for one to change their own IP address especially if they're using wireless.
