I saw that the timer was put back to 10min. I find this a bit cumbersome as do some other people (I'm sure). I just thought it was a bit odd.

Ok - why was the request time was moved up to 10 minutes?
The queue has been huge lately. The higher time gives others a chance to request and actually hear it. If SAM seems to be getting more requests than you all we would consider changing it back.
I would say that the 5 minute request time was/is a luxury. As DFM gets more popular the request time will have to go up. Price we have to pay for popularity. Expect it to go up further as we get more listeners and requestors.
And above all of that, ultimately this is a radio station and not a play-on-demand station. That means that we should be down on our knees thanking JERIC that he set up his site so that everyone can request from his personal playlist.
I am glad you all enjoy requesting. That is truly on the most awesome aspects of this station. It's great to share our favorites with each other. We just don't get to do it as often. I think we will all survive.

If people we're a little more responsible and curtious with their requests, we probably wouldn't have to increase the wait time. Many times I've seen people say they're gone for the day in the chat while many of their requests are still in queue. That's just poor etiquette. There's a chance that it will go back to 5. That will be up to the administrators discretion. My unoffical queue lenth tolerance is:
0-1 hours = ideal
1-2 hours = ok
2-3 hours = concerned
>3 hours = unacceptable
Also keep in mind SAM never gets to request during peak hours. I would like to have SAM throw stuff into the queue once in a while to offer a little more variety but I don't run that script because I know how much requests mean to you guys.

I can only bow to so much wisdom... Mods, admins and Jeric are right telling us that we should be thankful for having the opportunity to request songs... even the VIP-system is quite understandable. I just hope that the amount of VIP's won't kill the system... but I'm pretty sure that the wisdom already displayed will find the proper solution for 'hiccups' like that...

The minutes just go up when the in que is over 1 hr after it goes lower it will go back to 5 minutes. Its a better way of the que than i thought up of. |

yes this method seems to work pretty good and keeps the que time down pretty low the highest ive seen it is like 1 and a half hours wich is still not to bad
