Not sure if Ihsahn is drained for creativity or bursting with it. |

For me this was a rather big disappointment. Having enjoyed a through Saxing for most of the previous albums and liking the different take on Metal that Ihsahn offered I was ready for a great Progressive album. Sadly I think this will go down as Das Seldom-nicht-listen. I haven't listened to this album but three or four times and that was spread across a several months so it turns out to be rather forgettable in the fine details and overall it mostly doesn't flow like an album should. There are two parts to this album, some popish sounding songs that actually sound like songs and then random musical disconnect. The first few songs are mildly listen-able but are just too much along the lines of post rock/pop metal. I think the use of auto-tune and glam rock guitars really shows the failure that this album turned into.
The other part of this album makes me question if Ihsahn is running out of creative steam. There are a couple songs on this album that are just noise and seem to be void of musical structure. Tacit and Tacit 2 are nothing but ~5 minutes of drum wankery and is just a tsunami of fills and random beating and bashing of the drums. The rest of the songs are unmemorable and lame excuses for music.
Everything before Tacit 2 is about a 3 as it goes for Prog Rock. Everything else is trash to be throw to the side and forgotten. I am not much of an elitist but this isn't really metal in my book. I give this a 2/5 because I think Ihsahn is zapped of his creativity or is like Burzum and wanting to move away from Metal and play another genre but not really wanting to commit.
