Still strong!

We're just going to have to grin and bare it here - the New Decapitated is nothing like the Decapitated of yore. But is that really a bad thing? There are many parts of Blood Mantra that do not have the technicality that Nihility has, such as the groove riffs and drum patterns, but it somehow manages to bring a strong sense of doom. Feeling of being haunted, eeriely reminiscent to the track "Silence" from Carnival is Forever. Perhaps that's what Vogg had in mind. If not, it certainly makes for a great mood for the album.

But that's not to say that the technical badassery is not completely gone. The Blasphemous Psalm to the Dummy God Creation hits like an atom bomb, the title track Blood Mantra reminds me of Organic Hallucinosis, and the brutal riff in the middle of Nest.

And that's why I like Blood Mantra. Both of these elements culminate together and bring out this fierce new form of Decapitated, to show not only their persistence, but also their musical talent. And damn, they've still got it.

The death metal disappointment of the year! wtf happened here? this sounds like machine head, soulfly and such with an angrier vocal..even the great drumming is gone for the most part.. it's not a total fuck-up, but I've expected something else from these guys.. too bad, one of my fave dm bands but not anymore obviously.
