this album is the milestone between Thrash Metal and a new way to do extreme music....a masterpiece for all who like the old school of Death Metal

After repeated listenings (many, many listenings!), I have come to a conclusion about this album. Although I recognise that there is a grey area between late Thrash and early Death Metal, I believe this falls mainly into the Thrash camp, while being unusual is having a very hoarse vocal delivery (i.e. bad singing).

We can see then that whereas this album clearly inspired the genre of Death Metal, it is not a part of it. Also we should notice the exclusively Satanic theme of the lyrics, which was continued by DM bands like Morbid Angel and Deicide.

Albeit, this is a notably fast and furious exercise in the darkest of Thrash Metal.

Death thrash? Death metal? What do I say? Death thrash or perhaps extreme thrash metal.

This album is notable not just another fucking album in the metal community, some of us forget how much influence this album had on 90s death metal bands as well as death thrash metal bands as well as blackened death metal bands blackened death thrash bands and blackened thrash metal. When this album came out it was something out of the ordinary. Of course there was venom but come on Venom was a band that sounded exactly like motorhead but worse. Possessed wanted to be the first extreme metal band and at that time there was slayer but they weren't as heavy and death metal sounding as Possessed.
