supposedly they turned off the lights on the Golden Gate bridge but I didn't see it as I was at work. I think it is a waste when the Giants leave their lights on at their ball park all night, even when they're out of town. (But then the Giants are a waste too.)

@razy: methane gas is a stronger greenhouse gas than carbondioxide. If I'm not mistaken it's about 19 times stronger.
most methane gas sources are natural, rain forests and swamps are some of the biggest producers of methane. The ocean als contains huge amounts of methane and releases them continously or sporadically (in that case it's called an ocean burp). Siberia contains enormous amounts of methane, it's captured in the permafrost.
there are few methane sources caused by humans: the use of oil => when oil is burned methane is released along with other gases (so this includes industry and transport) and also coal mines are a source.
I'm a believer of global warming, but unlike moste others I don't believe it's caused by mankind. I do believe we contribute to it, but (like always) we love to think/believe we're the greatest contributers. Mankind always want to see itself as the most dominant organism on earth.
the major climatological changes were caused by volcanism and meteorites or comets.

Near 2 weeks ago I was discussing with my sister about the phenomenom: Two blind and extreme sides. One uttering that the mankind is fucking the planet. The other claiming that this is bullshit. Both sides have stupid people, but both sides have intelligent ones too. Both sides would stop the mutual attack and assume a moderating mood. Everyboth would win so.
We have the tendency to find normal everything that happens around us often. Pollution, lack of water, species extinction, violence they are aspects of our action and of what we are, as well as the cuttie gadgets we invent and the medical advances are. C'mon, we are guilt on some extent. Don't matter how much.
More? I'm favorable to the abort, the euthanasia, the transgenics, the full use of robots, the nanotechnology, the human genetic manipulation, the stem cells research and use. We can't stop this and we have not why to stop.
We "only" have the responsability by our acts.
