Description: HELL FURNACE is an online Black Metal zine written by Stug and Waffen
We write HELL FURNACE for fans who take their enjoyment of Black Metal seriously, and to help promote bands who truly NAIL the perfect balance of savageness, atmosphere, creativity and musicianship.
Decades after the scene began, there’s now hordes of high quality black metal to feast on: new champions alongside the growing swarm of old masters we grew up with. It’s a constant battle to sniff out the best new bands and still find time to gorge on all the good old shit!!
HELL FURNACE features the best in recent Black Metal releases, as we discover them. We’ll sometimes feature reviews of less well-known elite albums from the past. When we find any new Death Metal which really hits the mark, we’ll review that too - but Black Metal is our focus.
As HELL FURNACE grows, you can expect:
* Black Metal Music Reviews: vivid descriptions, unusual opinions, no scores. We aim to explore and appreciate the art of Black Metal in ways rarely seen elsewhere… You won’t find scores or ratings in our reviews cos we think it’s pointless. How can anyone truly measure how good or bad a black metal album is, so why fucking bother trying!?
* Black Metal Band Interviews: insight, not mundane shit. We strive to ask challenging interview questions, perhaps even revealing and humorous. The world of Black Metal is way too interesting to keep asking bands the same boring fucking questions over and over again.
* Articles: written under the influence of Black Metal, the most aggressive music ever created. Our deep enjoyment of this serious art form is balanced with a certain sense of humour, which some may consider to be “fucked up.” Well, if you like fucked up music, you might enjoy our articles - but we don’t expect you to.
